AP* organizations
AP* (AP-star) is an informal community of Internet organizations in the Asia Pacific that exchange information. AP* members include APNIC, APRICOT, APTLD, APCERT, and others.
APNIC (Asia Pacific Network Information Centre) is an open, membership-based, not-for-profit organization. It is one of five Regional Internet Registries (RIRs) responsible for the fair distribution and management of IP addresses and related resources. These resources are required for the stable and reliable operation of the global Internet.
As part of this service, the APNIC Secretariat is responsible for maintaining the public APNIC Whois Database and managing reverse DNS zone delegations.
APNIC is also actively involved in the development of Internet infrastructure throughout the region. This includes providing training and education services, supporting technical activities such as root server deployments, and collaborating with other regional and international organizations.
The Asia Pacific Regional Internet Conference on Operational Technologies (APRICOT) is an annual conference with the mission to provide a forum for key Internet builders in the Asia Pacific region to learn from their peers and other leaders in the Internet community from around the world. The first of APNIC’s two annual meetings are co-located with APRICOT.
The Asia Pacific Top Level Domain Association (APTLD) is an organization for ccTLD (country-code Top Level Domain) registries in the Asia Pacific region. APTLD works as the forum of information exchange on technological and operational issues of domain name registries in the region.
The Asia Pacific Computer Emergency Response Team (APCERT) is an association of CERTs and CSIRTs in the Asia Pacific region whose mission is to maintain a trusted contact network of computer security experts in the region to improve awareness and competency in relation to computer security incidents.

Security events foster next generation
More and more security events in the Asia Pacific region are engaging with and developing the skills of the next generation of cybersecurity professionals.
Asia Pacific Advanced Network (APAN) is a membership organization of research and education networks in the region. The objectives of APAN include the coordination and promotion of network technology developments and advances in network-based applications and services across the Asia Pacific.

The Asia Pacific Internet Exchange Association (APIX) is a membership organization for Internet Exchange Points (IXPs) in the region, and serves as a forum for IXPs to exchange experiences.
